Geometric Shapes
Even though the most common shape for raised garden beds and planter boxes is the rectangle, only imagination can limit you.
Thus, you can find triangular, circular, pentagonal, hexagonal, and octagonal planter boxes. Your choice largely depends on your personal preferences and the aesthetic look you wish to achieve.

Dimensions
When making a raised garden bed, the dimensions should allow you to tend to the plants conveniently. Since most planter boxes and raised garden boxes are rectangular, the following are the recommended dimensions:
- Height: The minimum height for a raised garden bed should be 10 inches, the ideal soil depth for most plants. If the planter boxes is elevated or with legs, it should be 36 inches high for adults, 24 inches for individuals who used wheelchairs, and shorter for children.
- Length: The length of raised beds and planter boxes doesn’t matter as long as you have enough space and can afford it. Where the available materials are limited, then the garden bed can only be so long.
- Width: A good garden bed should be four feet wide for adults and three feet wide for children. That enables the gardener to reach all parts of the raised flower bed when tending to the crops.
